Michael Cascone, Jr.
Michael Cascone, Jr. is the current Chairman Emeritus and former Chairman
andCEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. He served in many different roles during
his 35+ year career at BCBS-Florida, including President and COO, Executive Vice
President, and in a Senior Officer role over each of the Company's Divisions, including
health services, marketing, corporate communications, legal and legislative affairs,
information systems and operations, private business operations, government programs,
facilities and office services and finance.
During Cascone's tenure as CEO, BCBS-Florida increased top line annual revenue to
$5.9 billion, increased the number of Floridians it served to more than six million
covered lives, maintained external financial ratings that were among the highest
in the country, added new product lines and provider networks, and upgraded customer
service.
While at BCBS-Florida, Cascone served on the Board of Directors of the national
Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. He also was Chairman of the Board of the
Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's Federal Employees Program, one of the largest
health plans in the world with 4.6 million members and $18 billion in annual revenue.
Cascone also served on several key committees for the national Blue Cross and Blue
Shield Association, including Finance, Mediation, Health Policy, Legislative and
Operations. He served as Chairman of The Caucus, an organization of non-profit Blue
Cross and Blue Shield Plans.
Cascone is past Chairman of Jacksonville University's Board of Trustees and continues
as a Trustee. Cascone completed the Harvard Business School's Advance Management
Program and earned a B.A. degree in Mathematics from Jacksonville University.
